This employee training plan template is designed to help companies keep track of employee training courses and individual employee requirements. Within this workbook there are separate worksheets for tracking employee information, courses and certifications, scheduled class dates, and course feedback. Though separate, the worksheets are all linked to ensure consistency of information.
Related rows connect employees to the courses and certifications they need to complete. Courses and certifications are also connected to scheduled class dates using related rows. A form is available in the Class Feedback worksheet for collecting feedback from employees. For more details, see the About worksheet.
Your employees are your company's most valuable asset. You've heard it a thousand times. If you had a valuable computer system, you might want to invest in it and upgrade it with more RAM or a Solid State Drive, so it can handle more things faster and better, without crashing. But did you know you can invest in your employees and help them upgrade themselves too? Training programs for your employees likewise let them handle more jobs faster and better, without crashing.
But training programs without a plan are like welding RAM to random parts of a computer and hoping that it works. That's not what Random Access Memory means. In order for your computer upgrades to be effective, you need a plan to use your resources appropriately. The same is true for your employees. And that's where a new employee training plan template comes in.
By carefully laying out your objectives and training requirements for each employee, you can keep track of exactly who has learned what from where, and what training still needs to happen. With so many moving parts, it's helpful to have an employee training template to which you can easily plug in the full list of employees, courses, and certifications, to have them all linked together for ease of tracking.
75% of surveyed millennials believe professional development is important, and would consider leaving their job if no development is available. 75% of millennials are also annoyed that some people still think of their generation as kids even though they were born back in the 80s and early 90s.
1 in 3 employees say their organization’s training is out-of-date. One sign your training may be out of date is if you can't find the fax that tells you how to set up the training VCR. Although if you don't use an employee training template, you may not even realize your training materials are that old.
No matter how well-trained they are, it is considered inappropriate to ask employees to roll over or play dead. Interns may be asked to fetch things, but should be paid.
This employee training plan template consists of four main worksheets:
Employees - Use this worksheet to enter a name, photo, and contact information for each employee. Required Courses (linked to Course worksheet) can be selected for each employee, as well as which courses they have already Received and which they are Signed Up for. Any employee who has completed all of their required courses will automatically generate a checkmark in the first column, to see at a glance who is ready to go.
Courses & Certificates - List all the Courses & Certifications that may be required of an employee, along with a Photo and Description. Scheduled Class Dates (linked to that worksheet) for each class can be selected.
Scheduled Class Dates - Each individual class date can be linked to its main Course, and entered by date and time along with its Facilitator and a brief description. A checkbox lets employees know if the course is still Available for sign ups, and a Link to enroll is provided.
Class Feedback - Using the Form View in the upper left, employees may anonymously provide star ratings and qualitative feedback on high and low points of each course. All feedback is collected into the worksheet where it can be easily viewed.
Maybe you don't. Maybe you've managed to hire perfect employees, who arrive not only with a fully certified and constantly updated mastery of all industry skills, best practices, and standards, but a comprehensive understanding of all workflows and protocols of your company specifically. Well done on hiring a staff of omniscient telepaths.
However, on the off chance this isn't the case, your employees might benefit from some amount of training to assist them in doing their jobs more effectively. A good training program will improve productivity and employee retention rates, both of which lead to higher profits. But unless you have an eidetic memory or a staff you can count on one hand, it's difficult to keep track of who still needs which training courses when.
That's where a new employee training schedule template comes in handy. All new employees are entered into the spreadsheet, assigned the appropriate courses depending on their role, and linked with the Scheduling worksheet to enroll them for the specific course dates required. Current employees who need a refresher course or some new knowledge can be handled the same way. You can easily track everyone's progress, to see who has completed their training and who still has courses to complete. With an employee training template, you'll always know where you stand.
