2022 year in review

Matt Robinson
co-founder & CEO

Before we hit the ground running in 2023, we took some time to reflect on all of the advancements we made over the past 12 months. Here's a summary of what we accomplished in 2022.

Grew to over 170,000 users: Spreadsheet.com is now used regularly by thousands of teams at:

...and organizations across the globe in a variety of industries such as construction, real estate, insurance, finance and accounting, pharmaceutical, healthcare, biotech, entertainment, food and beverage, and more.

Launched over 80 product releases including over 1,000 fixes, over 100 enhancements, and more than 20 major new capabilities, such as:

Grew to 36 full time employees: We expanded our engineering team and hired a head of content to create our Content Marketing function.

Published hundreds of templates, articles, and user guides: The Spreadsheet.com template gallery grew to over 200 templates for a wide variety of use cases, and we published 22 work management articles and 24 user guides. In addition, the Spreadsheet.com Help Center was substantially expanded and revised. We also published 6 customer stories and we were pleased to receive 40 customer reviews at G2 Crowd.

Surpassed 25,000 automated tests: Our QA team added over 15,000 new automation test scripts last year to minimize regressions, which we run before every product release.

Completed SOC 2 Type II certification: In June we completed a successful and clean SOC 2 Type II audit examination and are continually monitored for compliance by Vanta. Our SOC 2 Type II report is now available for any interested customer. We also made progress toward formal HIPAA and GDPR certification, which we expect to announce soon.

Launched new website content and plans: We expanded the Spreadsheet.com website with Overview and detailed feature pages, along with a set of Comparison pages. We also announced discount plans for Schools and Nonprofits, and free plans for Teachers and Students.

Meanwhile, our new 4 minute intro video gives a quick Spreadsheet.com overview that highlights the breadth and depth of the product:

Last but not least, we had a lot of fun publishing detailed overviews and Spreadsheet.com workbooks for popular sporting events such as The World Cup, The Stanley Cup, Formula 1 Racing, Major League Baseball, and March Madness. And don't forget our History of Spreadsheets article published on Spreadsheet Day 2022, the 43rd anniversary of the commercial spreadsheet.

What's next?

We accomplished a lot in 2022, and we're grateful for the incredible group of teammates who made it happen. 2023 is shaping up to be another action-packed year, starting with the launch of Dashboards, followed by a steady stream of new features such as Notifications and Reminders, Cell and Row History, Row movement, Shareable views, Resource management, improvements to the responsive mobile and tablet browser experience, native mobile apps, and more.
